Come Pick Me Up (original) Ryan Adams

i-will-dare:

foldback:

Ryan Adams - “Come Pick Me Up (Original)”

This is from the early days of Napster/Audiogalaxy. I have it labelled as “Come Pick Me Up (Original)” because it certainly does sound like the first time he played it. Regardless, some of the lyrics are different. It’s also part of a compilation I made called, simply, Live 1999-2001, which is where my random Ryan Adams mp3s went that didn’t later get matched up with other songs from the same show. And the artwork was attached to the live version of “Mega-Superior Gold” that I included.

Also, I get why folks would laugh at this song the first time they heard it, and I don’t. Weird.

(Hat tip and a heads-up to loveisadeserter, who inspired me to dig this one out with her reblogged post earlier.)

I roughly understand how people can think it’s funny. But it’s not funny. It’s fucking soul-crushing. I used to get drunk and play this song a lot, and people always laughed. I found it really annoying.

Oh, yeah. Dude getting his heart shit on is pretty humorous, eh? Apparently I’m not in on the joke. Or I just identify with that song a little too much.

I’ve never heard this version, it’s pretty great.

I don’t understand the laughter, this song always crushed me.
